Wounds: A Poem about Healing
Wounds

Until you heal
You will continue to bleed
Those wounds remain open
Until you know what you need
Wounds bleed from within
Your life becomes stained
Through alcohol, drugs, and other vices
Leaving you feeling shamed
These wounds you did not create
Your brain subconsciously overcompensates
Until you get to a place where you understand
Your lower brain dominates
You are thrown off your rhythm
When your body dysregulates
Color, tap, listen to your favorite artist
So, your body self regulates
It may take time
For these wounds to heal
Your journey is your journey
As you learn how to take the wheel
Connect with those that bring you up
Creating a therapeutic web
Having a community stand with you
As your story needs to be said
